Consumers may utilize Super Lawyers as a resource to identify reputable attorneys or to verify the credentials of their legal representatives.

As a service of Thomson Reuters, Super Lawyers functions as a rating platform recognizing distinguished lawyers across more than 70 practice areas who have received substantial peer acknowledgment and achieved notable professional success. Its selection process involves multiple phases, including independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations. The goal is to produce a credible, comprehensive, and diverse directory of outstanding attorneys, serving both legal professionals and the public seeking legal counsel. The final list usually comprises no more than five percent of practicing lawyers within each state.

The publication also features a subset known as Rising Stars, highlighting attorneys who are 40 years old or younger or have been practicing for ten years or less. Those distinguished by this recognition have demonstrated a high level of peer recognition and professional achievement. No more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in each jurisdiction are included in this category.
